Pukekura Park Fernery
Love the view of the stunning native fern collection, colourful Coleus & other exotic tropical foliage plants, a diverse collection of elegant orchids & an extensive range of plants in potted culture. Free daily guided tours of the Fernery & Display Houses will cover the history, background & plant collections of this serene & beautiful haven. Open every day from 8.30am to 4pm.

Pukekura Park
Join the Pukekura Park staff on a guided walk through New Plymouth’s premier park. Learn about its history as you view the spectacular rhododendrons & visit the many dells. With your guide you will explore hidden corners of one of New Zealand’s most significant public gardens. A truly wonderful walk featuring many fascinating & interesting plants, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Please wear suitable walking shoes & a medium level of fitness is required. The event will proceed wet or fine.

Pukeiti Guided Walk
Andrew Brooker, Pukeiti Curator, has worked at Pukeiti for 21 years. He will take you on a journey through the magical landscape that is Pukeiti ‘The Rhododendron Garden in a Rainforest’. Meet at the Gatehouse & prepare to be enthralled while Andrew shares his passion for rhododendrons on this guided tour of Pukeiti.

Tupare Guided Walk
Meet up with Tupare’s Senior Gardener Mitch Graham on a tour of the garden. The walk will highlight many of Tupare’s often unnoticed treats, some little & some grand. Tupare owes its splendid views to its location & topography. Enjoy a cup of tea in the Gardener’s Cottage afterward. Sensible shoes recommended.

Tupare house tours
During the festival, Friends of Tupare will conduct daily tours of the newly restored Chapman-Taylor designed home built by Sir Russell & Lady Matthews. Experience a much-loved slice of Taranaki’s heritage.
There will also be a private collection of Arts & Crafts-inspired needlepoint exhibition, including a classic William Morris design. This artwork will be available for viewing during the guided house tours.

Stepping Stones/Duncan & Davies Guided Tour
Experience a rare opportunity to view the inner workings of one of New Zealand’s largest export production tree nurseries. The owners of the Stepping Stones & Duncan & Davies Nursery invite you on a guided van tour via their large nursery where you will view production fields of Japanese Maples, Magnolias & Hamamelis. Gain an insight into growing trees on a commercial scale & the strict quality control processes required to gain entry into export markets. This is a unique tour that should not be missed.

Bernie’s Home Garden
& Plant Sales at Hollards
During the festival the demonstration & nursery area will be open to the public. On display will be a sustainable home produce garden. Come & check out the chickens, bees & the various complementary plantings. There will also be a plant sale during the festival where you can purchase & then take home some of Hollard’s unique plants.
