From Chelsea to chooks:
How to be self-sufficient in style
Lynda Hallinan

Join NZ Gardener’s entertaining editor-at-large Lynda Hallinan for an evening of homegrown hints & hilarity, as she shares her latest adventures swapping her self-sufficient inner-city Auckland garden for a rural lifestyle block with chooks, ducks & a puppy that won’t stop eating cowpats.

Lynda will reveal the latest international garden design trends, her pick of the hottest vegetables to plant this season, favourite recipes for fresh produce, her homebrewing successes (and explosive failures), top & flop crops... & inside goss on what really happens behind the scenes of a television gardening show.

Lynda Hallinan is the award-winning editor-at-large of NZ Gardener magazine & presenter of Prime TV’s Kiwi gardening series Get Growing. Her columns appear in the Sunday Star-Times, Lifestyle Block, NZ House & Garden & she offers gardening advice on Newstalk ZB & TVNZ’s Good Morning show.

Lynda has been a mad-keen gardener since she was 18 and, in 2007, made an ambitious New Year’s resolution to grow all her own food in her 733m2 Auckland garden. She is an amateur farmers’ market stallholder, a keen pickler & preserver, & a gardening obsessive!

Lynda now lives in Hunua, south of Auckland, with her partner, two dogs, four cats, seven hens, three roosters, 12 heifers & an obese old ewe called Harold who thinks she’s a cow.
