20. Hollards
1686 Upper Manaia Rd, Kaponga
Taranaki Regional Council

Hollard Gardens is a stunning 4.5 hectare property located in central Taranaki farming country between Stratford & Kaponga, close to Egmont National Park.

It was established by Bernie Hollard in 1927 when he fenced off the remnant bush on the family farm & began to develop his true passion - his garden. Bernie became a widely respected & innovative plantsman & today Hollard Gardens is a plant collection of national importance. It features an immense international range of plants as well as many rare & unusual natives - even the most experienced gardener can discover something new.

Hollard Gardens, like Tupare, is a Taranaki Regional Council property which is managed on a sustainable basis with good plant husbandary practices, minimal chemical use & recylcing of vegetative materials. During the winter we held a series of interactive workshops with the community where we established a home produce garden. For the first time this completed project will also be open to the public for the duration of the festival.

Open 9am - 8pm, Admission Free
