1. Tikorangi, The Jury Garden

Tracing its history back to 1880 when pioneer Thomas Jury planted the first trees, Tikorangi remains in family hands & in private ownership. Mark & Abbie Jury continue to expand the garden & plant collection & to push the boundaries of what can be grown in their temperate tonear subtropical conditions. The rimu cathedral avenue is recognised internationally as unique in this large garden.
Plants for sale during festival include many of the renowned Jury hybrids including magnolias & fragrant rhododendrons.
Home cooked food available weekends & by prior arrangement during the week.
Don’t miss this year’s festival workshop ‘Featuring Plants as Focal Points’ on 6 Nov, the 2nd Saturday of the festival.

2. Armstrong Garden

Alathea & Bill Armstrong
Alathea has a passion for the English cottage garden style. Hidden from the road down a short right of way, her large town garden features herbaceous borders full of spring colour & fragrance. The abundance of flowers comes from a huge range of perennials & annuals with old fashioned favourites to the new & unusual. An abundance of roses add height & scent to this charming cottage garden. Flat easy walking, picnickers welcome. Plenty of road side parking.

Margaret’s Garden

Enjoying the warmest, sunniest position in Taranaki, Margaret’s roses always bloom for the festival & her garden is full of colour & fragrance. As a rosarian Margaret takes pride in presenting her roses in peak condition. However, her garden contains many other interesting plants. Half an acre of flat easy walking just off the State Highway north of Waitara. Good parking

Magnolia Grove

Hidden in a small valley just off SH3, this garden has been transformed from a paddock in just five years. Features include The NZ Raised Magnolia Collection, a magnolia maze & a collection of large outdoor cacti creating a desert-like experience. An array of plants & trees enhance this diverse garden.

Waiongana

This garden is a rarity as one of a few large new gardens in New Zealand. This four hectare garden is in its fourth year of extensive development & is definitely a work in progress. Surrounded by the mountain-fed Waiongana River, this unique New Zealand garden has many new & interesting features.

The Vege Patch Vegetable Garden

A working vege garden, demonstrating espaliering of fruit trees, grape vines, berries amongst vegetables & herbs in raised garden beds. Poultry are used as a principle of permaculture, returning waste to the soil while providing a food source. The Vege Patch introduces new & inspirational ideas & techniques for achieving a prosperous edible garden.
