Those Were The Days

Cars of the 1950’s

Presented by the Floral Art Society of New Zealand – Taranaki Area

Come and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Taranaki Area Floral Art Collective in conjunction with the Taranaki Floral Artist of the Year. This year's floral entries are to incorporate a section of a 1950s cars in their floral design. Novice, junior, intermediate and senior categories are in the exhibition.

Rachael says: "Our members have been working for months to bring together the cars of our childhood and to incorporate them into our designs with flower and plant materials."

Be amazed and delight in the imaginative use of local materials. And take the opportunity to reminisce about those beautiful cars of the 1950s.

The Taranaki Area Floral Art Group is made up of representatives from all the Floral Art Clubs in Taranaki. The aim of the group is to co-ordinate club events, keep information flowing and supply workshops from time to time to educate the members of the participating clubs. Every two years a competition is held to find the Designer of the Year for Taranaki, who then represents the province at a national level.

Artworks range from full floor to smaller works.

See for yourself, you will be surprised and amazed at the imaginative use of our local materials that we often take for granted, and take the opportunity to reminisce about those cute little cars of the 50s.

Also on display will be competition designs which have had a component of a car incorporated into the work. These designs range from full floor ‘all around’ designs, to work suitable for a sideboard or table, plus a 2 dimensional collage.
