My Sustainable Garden Poster Competition
supported by the
Taranaki Environment Centre
Design a sustainable garden poster and win some great prizes
A Sustainable Garden is a garden where things such as soil,
water, plants, household and other local products are used,
re-used and
recycled to help create a healthy, natural, long-lasting
garden.
Here are some ideas you could find out more about
and then present on your poster:
•
making compost out of food scraps
•
making a worm farm
•
collecting rainwater to re-use on the garden
•
collecting seeds
•
growing your own seedlings in recycled containers
•
using leaves to make mulch etc...
There are two ways to win:
•
CLASS ENTRY - up to 2 metres long
•
INDIVIDUAL ENTRY - A3 size
How to enter:
• Write your name, age, school and phone number on the back
of your poster.
•
Deliver or send your entry to the Taranaki Arts Festival
Office, cnr Brougham & Powderham Sts, New Plymouth
no later than 5pm, Fri 24 Oct, 2008.

Fri 31 Oct, 2pm

Farmers Markets at Hollards
Hollards has had a thorough makeover as a result of extensive
research and planning by the Taranaki Regional Council,
the owners of this internationally renowned heritage garden.
During the Festival come and experience a genuine Farmers
Market. Enjoy fresh local produce in unique surroundings.
There will also be a range of craft stalls, music and refreshments
on offer.

Stories in the Park
Bring your children along to enjoy master storyteller and
artist Stu Duvall. His unique performances have captivated
and enthralled thousands of children of all ages.
Stu’s wonderfully crafted stories and original artwork
will inspire & entertain your children and you!
Bring a picnic, dress up, come and listen to a traditional
fairytale. Suitable for children of all ages – 5 years
to 100!

Trees for Babies Project
In celebration of all new babies born in our region in the
last 12 months, Taranaki Tree Trust, Plunket, Pukeiti,
our region’s three mayors & the Festival have
joined forces to deliver this event to our community.
All Plunket babies will have the opportunity to have a tree
planted in celebration of their birth.
Trees will be planted in local parks and reserves so you & your
child can visit their tree and see it thrive over the many
years to come.
