Special interest gardens

This year we have retained this category for those gardens that are a little different & might not otherwise feature as part of our festival. The three gardens we have included this year are interesting in their own right & have additional features which we hope will appeal to our visitors. These gardens have free entry.

Our 2010 special interest gardens are:
Japanese Tea House Garden
Gateway Garden
Hurworth Cottage & Garden

Special interest gardens can be identified by this pale purple background.

Vegetable gardens

As the trend in having your own ‘vege patch’ continues to increase, we want to encourage every novice vege gardener out there! In order to keep your fingers green & have a supply of fresh vegetables, join us to find out about our gardeners’ top crops & the secrets to their success. There is a large rambling organic garden, a tidy nursery grown example & even a tiny urban garden. These gardens have free entry.

Our 2010 vegetable gardens are:
Havenview Vegetable Garden
Paradiso Vegetable Garden
The Vege Patch

Vegetable Gardens can be identified by this pale peach background.

Gardens in development

We have continued with the very popular festival category, “Gardens in Development” The aim of this is to foster & nurture up & coming gardens of any size, age or style keen to not only be festival gardens, but to also reach standards of excellence.
We believe you will enjoy seeing these four gardens develop over the year into gardens of true quality, in line with all our festival gardens.

Our 2010 gardens in development are:
Waiongana
Joyce’s Town Garden
Magnolia Grove
The van der Poel Garden

Gardens in Development can be identified by this pale yellow background.

Public gardens

All our festival Public Gardens are nationally & internationally recognised as gardens of historical significance & maintain high standards of excellence.

Our 2010 public gardens are:
Hollard Gardens, Pukekura Park, Tupare & Pukeiti

Public gardens can be identified by this pale green background.
